A big thank you to our growing community who have been giving us valuable feedback to help make Cloud Middleman the easiest to use http(s) proxying service. After a few months of learning and iterating, we’re ready to take off the ‘beta’ label and release CM it into the wild. Below are some of the more significant new features, but first I want to talk about pricing:

FREE! — Cloud Middleman will be free for developers and small teams! As with any new product launch, we always have to think about how we’re going to make money. After experimenting with a few pricing models we’ve decided to make Cloud Middleman free for the majority of users and sell enterprise and large team accounts. This means you’ll likely be able to enjoy most of our ongoing feature releases at no cost.

Device and Session Sharing

Many of our early beta users wanted the ability to share traffic logs with other developers on their teams. We found that they were simply taking screenshots and sending them around as images. To make this easier, you’ll notice a new sharing icon at both the device level and the session level in Cloud Middleman:

Device and Session Sharing

If you’re working with a trusted developer on your team, you can share the entire device log or if you prefer you can only share requests from a single session (a session is a single connection to the Cloud Middleman VPN). Devices or sessions shared with you will show in your devices list on the main Cloud Middleman dashboard screen.

Filtering / Sorting

When looking at traffic logs, it can often be overwhelming with the sometimes hundreds of requests an app might make. We needed to provide developers an easy way to find the requests they were most interested in. To that end, we added keyword filtering. Now you can add a specific URL or just a keyword and see only requests matching your keyword filter. This makes it easy to find requests that should contain specific parameters.

In our beta product, all requests were simply shown chronologically on the device log screen. We’ve now added the ability to group requests by domain:

Domain sorting

Dark Mode

Always a developer favourite, dark mode is pretty nice:

You can find the dark mode toggle (lightbulb icon) on the top right hand side of the dashboard beside the user email.

With this release we also included a few other handy features:

  • Recover deleted devices
  • Clickable URL’s in requests
  • Quick copy & paste request data
  • Quick download of request / response data
  • Live connection indicator
  • Two Factor Authentication

We’re really excited about this Cloud Middleman release and we hope you will be too. In the coming months we have many new exciting features planned that will take Cloud Middleman from a proxying service into something that we hope becomes part of your every day developer workflow!
